AQSIQ issues import risk alert notification on some Chrysler vehicles

 

News from AQSIQ updated on Decmber 17, 2009)Recently, AQSIQ has issued Import Risk Alert Notification on Some Chrysler Off-road Vehicles from the United States. The Notification said that AQSIQ had found some Jeep Wranglers of Chrysler Group LLC, U.S. had got transmission overheating problems that could cause the vehicle to burst into flames. So far Chrysler Group (CHINA) Sales Ltd. has submitted to AQSIQ their investigation result and improvement measures and AQSIQ are organizing relevant technical institutions for evaluation.

 

In order to protect consumer safety, according to the Administration Regulation on Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Risk Rapid Alert and Quick Response, AQSIQ issues Import Risk Alert Notification on 2007 and 2008 model Jeep Wranglers of Chrysler Group LLC U.S., and the following items:

 

First, owners of 2007 and 2008 model Jeep Wranglers should contact the service center authorized by Chrysler for arrangement of vehicle examination and adjustment to lower safety risk.

Second, owners of Jeep Wranglers (whichever model) that find any problems caused by transmission overheating (such as fire, smoke or burning smell) should contact the nearest service center authorized by Chrysler so that the service center could take effective measures as soon as possible. If any injuries happen, please report to local entry-exit inspection and quarantine offices.

 

All service centers authorized by Chrysler should report to local entry-exit inspection and quarantine offices all above cases honestly and actively.

Third, all CIQs directly under AQSIQ should strengthen inspection and quarantine on import Jeep Wranglers, give legal treatment to unqualified vehicles according to the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Import and Export Commodity Inspection and its implementation regulations, and report to AQSIQ.
